Caregivers need
care, too!
Lyn and Bill Roche, authors, columnists, and accredited support group
leaders are the creators of this uplifting workshop. They are enthusiastic
presenters who helped care for three elderly family members. Lyn’s father and
Bill’s mother were both victims of Alzheimer’s disease. Lyn also cared for her
elderly grandmother who did not have dementia, but grew increasingly frail and
could not care for herself. She lived to be 95.
Lyn is the author of Coping With Caring;
When Someone You Love Has Alzheimer’s or a Related Condition. She realizes
there is little time in a caregiver’s day to read anything lengthy at one
sitting. Every page of her book stands alone offering an inspiring reflection
and a handy caregiving tip for each day of the year.
“A Breath of Fresh Air” is a 2-hour workshop in
which caregivers interact with Lyn and Bill and each other while
addressing a personal 10-page workbook designed especially for them. As former
caregivers, the Roches know caregivers are tired of lectures. They need
practical help to enable them to create a healthy balance in their lives –
tools they’ll take home and use.
Caring for someone with dementia
or an elderly loved one can be extremely challenging and stressful. However, by
attending “A Breath of Fresh Air” event, caregivers learn to take as good care
of themselves as they do the loved ones in their care.
See below for comments written on evaluation sheets by former
attendees of “A Breath of Fresh Air” events.
